Fruit Orchards in Ibiza

ORGANIC FRUIT ORCHARDS

A Living System Built on Patience and Balance

An organic fruit orchard is a living system, built on balance between soil health, planting techniques, tree varieties and the timing of each harvest. At Gardens of Ibiza, we design and plant orchards using only organic and natural methods, without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers.

The result is a small, self-sustaining ecosystem that gives you fresh fruit year after year, in harmony with nature and the island.

Landscape Design for Ibiza Outdoor Spaces

YOUR LAND, YOUR GOALS

Home Fruit Garden or Larger Orchard?

Whether you have a few trees by the house or several hectares of land, we plan the orchard around how you want to use it.

  • Home fruit garden
A mix of fruit trees, herbs and vegetables close to the house, grown for your own kitchen. Smaller in scale, rich in variety, and designed to look beautiful as part of the garden.

  • Larger orchard
A managed system of fruit trees on a larger plot, designed for long-term harvests and, if you wish, commercial production. We plan spacing, irrigation and windbreaks for efficient care and harvesting.

WHAT GROWS HERE

Fruit for Ibiza's Climate

With the right choice of trees, an Ibiza orchard gives fruit almost all year round

Spring

Loquats (nísperos) are the first fruit of the year, while the almond trees, which blossomed in late winter, set their nuts.

Summer fruits

Apricots, peaches and plums, followed by figs, grapes, almonds and carobs. Grapes are also used for the island's own Vino de la Tierra de Ibiza.

Autumn

Pomegranates, persimmons and quinces (membrillo), and the olive harvest - some of Ibiza's olive trees are centuries old.

Winter

Oranges, lemons and tangerines, and in warm, sheltered spots even avocados.

Our Process for Planting a Fruit Orchard

Planting an orchard in Ibiza is not a one-time job. Every step helps your trees thrive, even in dry and rocky conditions.

1. Timing and tree selection
Best time to plant is from late autumn to early spring (November to March), when the trees are dormant and summer heat and drought stress are avoided. We choose climate-adapted varieties such as almonds, olives, carobs, figs, citrus, apricots and plums.

2. Site and soil preparation
We test the rocky, calcareous soil, loosen it deeply and enrich it with compost or manure. Large trees are spaced 6 to 9 metres apart, never in the exact spot of an old tree.

3. Establishment and care
Young trees get a support stake for their first 2 to 3 years while the roots anchor. Organic mulch holds moisture and protects the soil, and drip irrigation gives steady water while the tree establishes. Regular pruning, pest monitoring and harvesting at peak ripeness keep the orchard healthy and productive.

MORE THAN PLANTING TREES

An Orchard That Lasts for Generations

The most successful orchards are those where every decision, from soil preparation and spacing to pruning and harvest timing, is made with long-term balance in mind. That is the difference between an orchard that simply produces fruit and one that sustains generations.
